This is a quilt about memory and how we remember things the way we want to.
The central squares of each log cabin change in size. The ones in the centre of the quilt are tiny photo transfers, the next ones are slightly larger and are representational paintings, while the ones around the quite large and are abstract paintings stitched with gold thread.
The fabrics in this quilt are saved family clothing from our early marriage, when our first two kids were babies, when we lived in a converted garage, when my husband was still figuring out what he would do and went back to school.
When we were younger and lived in the country around Thunder Bay.
On the back of the quilt I embroidered the title Something More Magical Than It Ever Was and accompanied it with a flaming heart image.
recycled family clothing, silk, photo transfer, fabric paint
log cabin in dark and light arrangement
machine pieced, hand embroidered and hand quilted 90 x 90 inches
1991
quilt number fifty

Your work is very lovely! I'm a hand embrodiery gal but haven't really tried making quilts. But you make me want to. Thanks.
